Men Around The Fire & Mentors
A standing gathering for men, and the pipeline that trains and places mentors close to where they live.
Men Around The Fire is a mens ministry and fellowship initiative for authentic, respectful, transformative conversation — men gather to break bread, share a meal, and talk honestly about lifes challenges, character, and faith. It works hand in hand with the rest of SMRS: while Healing Hearts restores moms and Men Molding Men Camps mentors boys directly, Men Around The Fire equips the men who go on to be those mentors and father figures
Who it’s for
Open to men aged 25 and older, with no upper limit — intergenerational connection is valued, and men in their 60s, 70s and beyond are warmly welcomed for their wisdom. Because this space serves a ministering function, non-believers, seekers, and people from every background are strongly encouraged to attend. There’s no obligation to formally mentor a boy — that stays voluntary, though it’s encouraged and SMRS can point you to programmes local to your area.
The vital need for this
Men are neither immune to emotional and spiritual brokenness, nor do they automatically outgrow childhood struggles as they move from boyhood to manhood. Many carry unaddressed pain and trauma that quietly shapes their character and behaviour. Modern society rarely gives men a judgment-free space to gather — Men Around The Fire offers that space, focused on mutual edification, accountability, and community leadership, for believers and non-believers alike.
